WHOLE HOUSE WATER FILTER. Whole-House Filters or Point of Entry. A whole-house filter is installed at a point on the homes water supply plumbing that will result in treatment of all water that travels to any faucet or fixture in the home. A whole-house filter system treats all water traveling to any faucet or fixture in the home. It removes the chemical before it can be ingested, breathed in, or absorbed by the skin during washing or bathing. Backwash on demand (manual). 1 CU FT OF UDF Carbon. Whole House Water Filtration. This unit includes the following. 8″ x 35″ Mineral Tank (Black or Blue). Good Economical Whole House UDF Carbon Water Filter System. The Manual Valve has very few moving parts and easy to use. When you need to backwash a filter, you put it into the backwash cycle for 10 minutes, followed by a rinse for 3 minutes and then back into the service mode. That is all there is to it! Once a week schedule for backwashing is generally sufficient. For a more economical product and ease of use, we recommend you get this than opting for a unit that does not backwash. As the filter operates in service mode, it collects particles in the filter bed, also since water’s nature is to follow the path of least resistance after some time it begins to cut channels through the medium. As channels or holes in the media bed forms, water begins to flow around rather than through the medium. This process is called “channeling” and it reduces the effectiveness of the filter considerably. The back is accomplished by send the water down the riser tube from which it enters the filter tank at the bottom. The force of the water is such that it actually lifts the media bed, swirling and tossing the granular medium. The water leaves the filter tank through the control valve, which routes it through the filter’s drain line. Particles that were in the bed are washed to drain. The backwash in an intense rinsing and tossing of the medium that lasts for several minutes. In a standard residential filter, a typical backwash lasts about ten minutes. After the backwash, initiate a “rinse” of the bed during which water flows downward through the medium, up through the distributor tube and out the drain. The purpose of this rinse is to rinse and settle bed and prepare it for return to service flow. A regular backwash schedule maintains the efficiency of the filter, as well as providing clear water. Chlorine, Taste, & Odor Removal. Maximum Working Pressure 125PSI. Maximum Working Temperature 100 °F. Do not use where the water is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the unit. Turn off water supply. Press res pressure-relief button (if present). Removal large o-ring, wipes clean, and set aside. Discard used filter cartridge. Wash housing with dish soap warm water using a nonabrasive sponge or cloth. Lubricate o-ring with clean silicone grease. Insert o-ring in groove. Insert new filter cartridge. Screw housing onto the cap and hand-tighten. Make sure cap standpipe slip into cartridge. A carbon cartridge may contain carbon fines (very fine black powder). After installation, flush cartridge for 10 minutes, wait an hour, then flush again for 10 minutes before using the water. It is recommended that you run the tap at least 20 seconds prior to using for water for drinking or cooking purposes. Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system. Protect against freezing to prevent cracking of the filter and water leakage. To prevent costly Repairs or possible water damage the sump of plastic housing must be replaced every five years for clear, and ten years for opaque. If sump is older than recommended, replace immediately. Date sump for reference and indicate replacement date. Personal checks may be held until cleared.
